Brad renfro is overcoming a bad boy reputation and has been proving his acting talent since age 12. His first
major motion picture was "the client" (1994), which was sufficient enough to catch the media's attention despite his lack of experience. Hopefully his 2 years of probation for attempting to steal a yacht won't prevent him from getting more lead roles like todd bowden in "
apt pupil" (1998).

Brad renfro was such an amazing actor, whenever i watch a movie of his i can't help but believe every emotion he is acting out and every word he says. He was honestly one of the most underrated actors ever.
Brad renfro is effective as the disturbingly curious todd, but it is
ian mckellen's superlative performance as dussander/danker that makes this movie an unforgettable psychological thriller. I also like to pay tribute to animals who contribute their talents to films without even a mention in the credits. There is a cat that appears in one powerful scene of this movie, conveying vivid emotions of curiosity, helplessness, and fear before delivering a truly frenzied, physically impressive, action-packed performance of high caliber indeed. Todd bowden is an intelligent, fairly normal teenager whose interest in the third reich mutates into a dangerous obsession when he locates and identifies an old german war criminal living in his own neighborhood. Confronting the old man, he convinces him to admit who he is, promising him that he will tell no one his secret as long as dussander does one thing for him. Todd wants to know everything about the holocaust, what dussander did, how he did it, how he felt, etc. A very strange bond develops between this odd couple, each character holding information that could destroy the other's very world, each seeking to gain the upper hand; it is a power struggle between two ruthlessly cunning individuals. As time goes on, both dussander and todd begin to change, affected by the evil that is their constant topic of conversation. The tension builds up throughout the film, culminating in a very satisfying conclusion (although i still prefer king's original conclusion). This is not a horror movie so much as a movie about horror and, in particular, obsession. There are some disturbing events in the movie, and one has to question which character is more evil than the other. It is difficult to really like either leading character, but one is intensely interested in the final outcome that must inevitably come; true evil can be hidden only so long. When i first learned of this movie's release, i was thrilled to finally see the story brought to life, yet the movie seemed to come and go with little fanfare. This is one of the best stephen king adaptations out there, and i feel this movie deserves much more attention and acclaim than it has received. The message of apt pupil speaks to everyone, not just horror fans, providing a very real warning about the dangers of obsession. Evil can be borne anywhere, even in the heart of middle america.
Erik is a kid that is sort of a loner at school. All the other kids at the school call him bad names relating to homosexuals. They also walk on the other side of the hall when he's walking by because dexter moved in behind his house. He has a drunk for a mother and his father lives in new orleans with his 23-year-old girlfriend. When summer vacation starts dexter and erik start up a friendship and they soon become best friends. They do fun things together and dexter starts living his childhood as it should be lived. In their playing around they come up with unique ways for how to cure dexter, but of course none of them work. One day they were at the supermarket and find a tabloid that says the cure for aids was found by a backwoods doctor in new orleans. They tell dexter's mom about this but she doesn't believe it. Erik's mom gail finds out that they two kids are playing with each other. She is misinformed about aids so she tells erik that he is not to play with dexter and that she is sending him to summer camp. So erik got to thinking that he and dexter could go and find the cure in new orleans so he could be aloud to play with dexter. They run away from their home of stillwater, minnesota and sail down the st. Croix and mississippi rivers to find the cure. This is a wonderful tale of true friendship.

Brad renfro is extremely sad, especially for all of us that grew up with his posters from tiger beat on our walls. Does anyone else think it's extremely innapropriate that dr. Drew commented in the people article saying that it was likely that he was on drugs since he was drinking the night before? i mean i know he had a history of drug/alcohol abuse but i just feel like since an autopsy will be performed and the cause of his death will be revealed, that is just unneccesary for him to go there.

Brad renfro is another sad reminder of what happens when, whether they are pushed too hard by their parents or because they themselves are addicted to fame, children grow up too soon. A short southern california drive from where brad renfro died, another man whose life was about childhood also died last week. Richard knerr, 82 when he died, was the founder of the wham-o company and started his company at a propitious time, right after world war ii. A new generation of children was roaming the streets of postwar suburbia. Their indulgent parents, raised during the depression and hardened during the war, aspired for their kids to enjoy what they lacked as children. Thus, lincoln logs, tiny tears dolls, schwinn bicycles, lionel trains and davy crockett coonskin caps were ubiquitous in the 1950's. But in 1958, knerr introduced the toy that outsold all others - the hula hoop. Toy stores could not stock them fast enough. In two years, wham-o sold 100 million hoops, the first toy to reach that mark. Hula hoops were cheap, sturdy and easy to use - it would have been hard to find a household with children that didn't have one. But within another two years the fad was over and wham-o, with millions of unsold hoops, barely broke even. During the 1960's, knerr's gift for knowing the childhood mindset manifest itself in other toys he introduced including the slip ‘n slide water slide, the water wiggly sprinkler, silly string and the superball. (this weekend represents a tangential chapter of knerr's legacy - kansas city chiefs owner lamar hunt coined the term “super bowl” for the professional football championship game after seeing his children playing with a superball).

Brad renfro is dead" "that's so sad". The new caused impact only one-two days. And others deaths like deborah kerr, roy scheider, igman bergman and heath ledger has impact more time: weeks or including months. That's the case of ledger's death who people are still talking about it. In imbd has the perfect example in the top ten we have ledger and scheider but renfro never appears until outside twenty. Renfro's image has a stigma of drug overdouse, law problems and complications with his life. So it's curious how the people could create that image. I don't say his death isn't tragic, but the general opinion has a quiet silence like surprising ledger's death.
The 25-years-old film star was found dead at a los angeles apartment on tuesday morning, january 15 where he spent the night before with friends. Speaking on his death, craig harvey, chief investigator for the los angeles county coroner, explained renfro "was heard snoring overnight, but found not breathing later tuesday morning, and the friends called 911. Paramedics declared him dead at the scene at about 9 a. The cause of renfro's death had yet to be determined, and his lawyer richard kaplan said he did not know whether the death was connected to any problems with addiction taking into account that renfro had a history of drug problems. Officials, elsewhere, would not comment on whether drugs or drug paraphernalia were found in the building. Harvey, moreover, was quoted by people as saying that though drug overdose is "obviously it's a possibility considering his history, but right now all we have is the history of his drinking the previous night. All that we have is that he was last known to be alive during the morning hours and he was snoring.
Brad renfro, the young actor whose film career began at age 12 with "the client" before dissolving as he struggled with drug and alcohol problems, has died. Renfro served 10 days in jail in may 2006 after pleading no contest to driving while intoxicated and pleading guilty to attempted possession of heroin. He starred opposite susan sarandon and tommy lee jones in "the client. " his other credits include "ghost world" and "the jacket.

Brad renfro is no steve mcqueen, but you shouldn't be so selective.
Brad renfro is also excellent--and frightening--as the white-bread everyboy whose minor inclination towards sadism is transformed into unfettered evil under the influence of the aging nazi refugee. And though renfro hasn't mckellen's range of skill or experience, he plays well against his mature colleague and does not come off as second-best. David schwimmer--better known from his role as ross on tv's wildly popular friends--gives a believable and refreshingly somber performance in a supporting role as the boy's school counselor. And genre fans will surely recognize bruce davison, here playing the boy's father, from his break-out performance as the titular character in the original willard (1971). Fans may also recognize genre regular james karen, who here appears as the boy's grandfather. As stated before, it is often considered a no-no to reference or address the holocaust in fictional films. So it's not surprising that some critics decry apt pupil for trivializing the holocaust and the suffering of holocaust victims. But this criticism is unfounded, especially in light of the character treatment in this film. While it may be true that mckellen's interpretation of the fugitive nazi is sometimes sympathetic, the actor never portrays the old man as repentant and therefore never assuages the repugnance or wickedness of the acts committed by such nazis during wwii. And when the boy reveals what he has become under the old nazi's tutelage, his true nature is regarded as frightening and dangerous and not glamorous or alluring. The dvd edition from columbia/tristar is a two-sided disc that offers an anamorphic widescreen version of the film in its original 2. 35:1 aspect ratio (side a), as well as a full-screen pan-and-scan version of the film (side b). The widescreen version is pristine, with few, if any, visible digital or filmic artifacts. Also on the disc are the original theatrical trailer and a short making-of featurette. All in all, this is an impeccable, reasonably priced edition of a captivating film that belongs in the collections of all serious genre fans or lovers of good cinema.

Brad renfro is not that big of a guy and it should not have taken her over a minute to roll him over. I loved brad since the client and i find this all heartbreaking but it is to bad he couldn't have surrounded himself with better people who would help better his life and have some intelligence. And for those of you who will criticize and say that she was stressed and i can't judge your wrong because i have been in this situation.
Brad renfro is riled that the oscars delivered an “unbelievable and disgusting” slap to the former child star by not including him in the “in memoriam” segment of sunday’s awards show.
Brad renfro is best remembered for his roles in “the client” as an 11-year-old, alongside susan sarandon and tommy lee jones, and in “sleepers,” joining a cast that included robert de niro, brad pitt, kevin bacon, dustin hoffman and minnie driver. He passed away at just 25 on jan. 15, when he was found in his los angeles home. An autopsy was performed last week, but the cause of death has yet to be determined pending toxicology tests results. Friends, family and fans gathered monday night in the actor's hometown to bid him farewell. Online, some 600 people showed up and offered their condolences to the renfro family. A funeral service was held and the actor's great-uncle, michael earl, officiated at the service. “brad had problems just like i have problems, just like you have problems, just like all of us have trials and tribulations that we go through,” earl said, as quoted by the knoxville news sentinel. “was brad perfect? well, i can tell you, i'm not. Are you? but i have had that righteousness extended unto me that comes only by the lord and savior jesus christ.
Brad renfro is more then evident in the three movies i capped here. First up is “apt pupil” an excellent movie by bryan singer based of a stephen king novella and co-starring ian mckellan. Brad is at the height of his hotness in this role and there's a serious gay undercurrent that runs through the whole movie. Then we come to “bully” a hyper-sexual true crime story by larry clark. Brad is still pretty nice looking here, but the movie's real heat is provided by nick stahl, who shows off a super lean body and just about all his goodies as the semi-psychotic rapist and renfro's best friend / pimp / tormentor. And finally is “confessions of an american girl” where brad is more or less relegated to a supporting role playing the gay brother of jena malone. It's only included here because i like the scene where brad makes out with an inmate played by clifton collins jr. (who later makes out with phillip seymour hoffman as an inmate in “capote”). But by the time this film was made, brad was starting to look a little pudgy in the midsection and it looked like the hard-living was catching up to him.
